Situated in Southern Brittany between Vannes and Nantes, La Roche Bernard is a large village brimming with history, boasting a picturesque harbour and offering beautiful views over the Vilaine River making it the ideal place to take a break. It is close to attractive Guerande Peninsula to the south, skirting the entrance of the magnificent Gulf of Morbihan.

‘Les Artisans' Bed & Breakfast offers you a warm welcome all year round and is run by the Knowlton family, Ricky a chef by trade and his French wife Dany. We are situated in the heart of the historic old quarters and are surrounded by a range of local artisans who welcome you to share their passion: ceramics, mosaics, glass sculpturing, pottery, painting etc…

Whatever your interests, from walking/hiking to sailing, playing golf to fishing or relaxing on one of the many beautiful sandy beaches along the Atlantic Coast, come and experience the beauty of the area.

Within walking distance you can find pleasure boat excursions along the Vilaine, canoeing, sailing, 3 quality bakeries, bars with pool table, a bee-keeping museum, an indoor swimming pool (outdoor in summer), a cinema, several banks, a large market every Thursday morning, an Arts & Crafts workshop as well as a variety of music festivals, exhibitions and other attractions during summer and spring.

In the surrounding areas, you will find horseriding schools, golf courses, lots of walks for ramblers, castles, fortified towns, seafood tasting...

Our lovely beaches (15 minutes by car for the closest) range from secluded coves to large resorts like La Baule and Le Croisic.

La Roche Bernard is a superb place to visit if you like to dine out: it has a large number of restaurants offering local produce from both land and sea. For a truly gastronomic experience or a special occasion, why not try dining at L'Auberge Bretonne run by Michelin-starred chef Jacques Thorel.

A visit to the Rock site is an absolute must. Here you will enjoy an unequalled panoramic view of the Vilaine and the Roche Bernard bridges. The Ruicard walk has a nice view of the old harbour. The Roche Bernard marina ("Port neuf") is a meeting place for ocean and river navigation. It has more than 400 moorings. The sailing school is a good place to enjoy water sports.
